Under supervision of the Senior Director of National Affiliates, this position provides advanced administrative assistance to the Senior Director primarily, with some assistance to the other National Affiliates staff on a case-by-case basis. Primary responsibilities include scheduling/organizing travel and meetings, managing files and information flow, preparing minutes from meetings, performing administration tasks related to the budget, preparing and distributing materials, communicating internally and externally, and other duties as assigned. This position regularly interacts with staff, members, committees, and the general public.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: At least one year of work experience required, preferably secretarial or administrative in nature and/or in organizing multi-functional areas/projects. Experience within the equine industry is preferred. In some instances, Associate’s degree or higher may substitute for experience.
SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and the use of the Internet. Must be proficient in the use of standard office equipment. Ability to write legibly required. Must have good organizational skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
